The Hardest Paint Color to Get Right? White.

Picking a white paint color should be easy. It is absolutely not.

I’m sharing three of my go-to warm whites—the ones I come back to again and again when the lighting, finishes and undertones are right.

Because that’s the catch: there really is no “perfect white” for every house. A white can look beautiful in one home and yellow, gray or pink in the house next door. Lighting and existing undertones can dramatically change how a white reads.

And I spend a slightly ridiculous amount of time thinking about this stuff.

Why Color Matters When Preparing a Home for Market

Between 15 years in real estate and about 15 years working with interiors, I’ve had the opportunity to see a LOT of homes across Alpharetta, Milton, Canton, Roswell and North Atlanta.

Last year alone, I sold 32 homes and zipped around North Atlanta to also complete 70+ design and color consultations as a Certified Color Expert.

Color really is the foundation of a room.

Why I’m Choosing Warmer Whites Right Now

As homes continue moving away from cooler grays and toward warmer, more natural palettes, I’m using warmer whites more often when I prep homes for market.

But I always look at the light, flooring, stone, cabinetry, countertops and other undertones already in the home before choosing one.

Warm whites themselves can carry red, orange or yellow undertones, which is exactly why choosing one can get tricky.
